Application method, condition and signs of marking alteration

Marking examination helps examine the appearance, structure, application method, damage and possible signs of alteration of markings on products made of various materials.

Some tasks may require microscopy, magnified photography, examination of relief, surface, coating, material and traces of mechanical, thermal or chemical intervention.

  • Metals:
stamped marks, numbers, engraving, stamping, laser marking, plates and nameplates.
  • Polymers:
cast markings, embossing, printing, laser markings and casing inscriptions.
  • Other materials:
composites, glass, ceramics, painted surfaces, plates and tags.
  • Deliverable:
specialist opinion, forensic examination, expert report review or questions for court.
Important: the expert examines the features of the marking and its alteration. Legal assessment of the product's origin, document authenticity, culpability or the elements of an offence remains with the court and competent authorities.
